Who this trip is for

You'd like to see the mountains properly, from the back of a horse, not from a viewpoint by the road.

You don't need to have ridden much. The horses are calm and steady, and you get time in the saddle before we go up high.

It suits people who want a bit of adventure in the day and real rest at the end of it.

The trip

Five days riding the fells above Bydalen. We ride up out of the forest onto open highland, where it's mostly sky, heather and the odd reindeer. Lunch is on the mountain, with a fika while the horses rest, then back down through the forest in the afternoon.

Three riding days, with a rest day in the middle. That's for the horses as much as you. Spend it foraging chanterelles, making something in wood or leather, or sitting by the lake.

Home for the week is a log house with a freestanding sauna and a view, and dinner is cooked over the fire every night.

In short
